Frequently Asked Questions
If I have completed a hunter safety course do I still need to take another class to apply for a Wisconsin Concealed Carry License?
No, simply send in documentation that you successfully completed your hunter safety class with the CCL application and a check for $40 to WI DOJ. However, it is strongly recommended that you take a WI Concealed Carry Class to understand the ramifications, restrictions, liability and serious considerations that need to addressed when carrying a concealed weapon as well as the concepts and requirements of the WI Concealed Carry Law.
Does the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Law require that I show proficiency in shooting a handgun?
No, but if you are considering a Concealed Carry License or just want to become more confident in using a handgun you may consider taking our NRA Basic pistol class which includes live fire training on a range. Or if you would like one to one personal instruction just schedule a private shooting lesson with us.
Do I need to bring or own a handgun to take a class?
Owning a handgun is not a requirement for either of our classes. Students are not allowed to bring any firearms into the Intro to Handguns and WI Concealed Carry classroom. You may bring a CASED handgun and up to 100 rounds of factory ammunition to the range for the NRA Basic Pistol Class. If you can not bring a handgun we will provide a handgun and ammunition for an additional charge.
